Davante Adams is a big fan of the Packers’ new offense

Davante Adams put up big numbers last year for the Packers, but he believes better things are in store under first-year head coach Matt LaFleur.

Packers fans are understandably curious to see how their favorite team’s offense is going to change next season. The coaching transition from Mike McCarthy to Matt LaFleur will certainly lead to some noticeable changes. According to star wide receiver Davante Adams, Green Bay fans are going to like what they see.

He told Jim Rome the new system is “an electrifying offense” with a lot of “big-play potential.” Those words should excite Packers fans who are hoping to see their team make an extended postseason run in 2019.

After all, Adams was a very productive wide receiver under the previous regime in Green Bay. He racked up 111 catches for 1,386 yards and 12 touchdowns in15 games last season. Those statistics made him a match-up nightmare for opponents and a comfortable Pro Bowl choice in the NFC.

The idea that the 26-year-old wide receiver might produce more big plays this season is going to keep opposing defensive coordinators up at night. Aaron Rodgers may not be quite the same quarterback he was a few seasons ago, but he’s still got a terrific arm and a penchant for making plays on the move. Adams does some of his best work helping his signal-caller get out of trouble by breaking off outs down the field.

The Packers should really be more concerned with how the other wide receivers on their roster feel about the new offense. It’s great Adams is encouraged, but they need for another couple of pass catchers to feel as excited to help diversify their aerial attack next year. Geronimo Allison, Marquez Vantes-Scalding and Equanimeous St. Brown all have a chance to make a good impression on the new coaching staff and give Rodgers more weapons he can trust.

Packers fans shouldn’t go out and buy their Super Bowl tickets quite yet, but the news Adams likes his new offense is encouraging. If that feeling permeates throughout the entire unit then Green Bay could be in for a big season.
