Baker Mayfield looks to have escaped with bruise

If being blown-out of the home opener wasn’t bad enough, the Cleveland Browns now have to worry about Baker Mayfield.

The Cleveland Browns were supposed to be terrific this year. Baker Mayfield was going to be an MVP candidate. Then the game started on Sunday, and everything went to hell.

In the aftermath of their ugly 43-13 loss to the Titans, Mayfield was spotted holding his right arm close to his side during his postgame interview. That wasn’t a good sign, especially for a quarterback being thought of as a franchise savior in Cleveland.

After his interview, Mayfield was taken in for X-rays, and when he exited with a soft wrap on his right hand, which was later diagnosed to be a bruise.

The Browns have to hope that this isn’t a time-missing injury. After years of futility, the Browns entered the 2019 season with hope, especially after the way the team finished strong last season and their acquisition of star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. With a solid defense and talent on offense, Cleveland looked to at least gun for a Wild Card spot.

Then, Week 1 happened.

The Browns were an absolute disaster on the field against the Titans. Even if Mayfield didn’t get hurt, there still would have been questions as to whether the Browns will live up to their preseason hype. Are these were the “same old Browns” but with different players? Tough to say.

Cleveland doesn’t play again until Monday night when it travels to take on the New York Jets.
