Panthers and Buccaneers in weather delay on TNF

The Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a weather delay with 8:31 remaining in the first quarter of Thursday Night Football.

After less than seven minutes of play elapsed, the Panthers and Buccaneers are in a weather delay at Bank of America Stadium.

The game begin with lightning in the area, while rain and wind played havoc. The FOX and NFL Network broadcasts only had the “Madden” angle for viewers to see, as cameramen were taken inside due to the inclement weather.

The game does not have a resume time set at this juncture. When the game does come back on, the Panthers will go on defense after Cam Newton was stopped on a fourth down read-option attempt.

Considering the weather was looming from the jump, one wonders if the right call was made with the game beginning in the first place. If the game was delayed prior to starting, the players wouldn’t have fired up their muscles before going back into their respective locker rooms and getting cold.

In the meantime, we’ll have the studio show led by host Lindsay Rhodes at NFL Network. Once the decision is made for the game to be played, both teams will be given time to warm up before getting back into action.

Carolina and Tampa Bay are both seeking their first wins of the season after losing to the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. The loser will fall to the bottom of the NFC South.
