NFL lines, Week 3 2019: 5 best bets

After another interesting week of football in the NFL, bettors should key in on a few notable underdogs in Week 3.

The NFL season tends to fly by, and its hard to believe we’ve already reached Week 3. Each week of action informs us more and more about how the league shapes up, which should make your lives easier as you try to wager on the action.

There is a wide spread in terms of the betting favorites in Week 3, with a pair of 20+ point spreads, which is almost unheard of in the NFL. We will hit on one of those in our best bets of the week, but we’ll kick it off with an over/under number at Arrowhead Stadium.

5. Ravens-Chiefs under 55

This is one of the biggest games of the week, and fans are excited for what could be an offensive explosion in Kansas City. Reigning league MVP Patrick Mahomes has picked up where he left off, including a four-touchdown second quarter in Oakland last week, while Lamar Jackson has morphed into a bona fide passer in his second season.

In order for the teams to hit this number, both quarterbacks will need to have more success through the air, which could be an issue in this game. The Ravens’ defense isn’t as good as in years path, but its strength is its secondary, headlined by former Seahawk Earl Thomas.

Kansas City’s secondary isn’t as stacked, but it still has plenty of talent and features a formidable pass rush. As a result, both teams could look to run the football more to keep the other offense off the field, which would limit possessions.

Fewer possessions means fewer opportunities to score, and even if these teams duplicate last year’s 27-24 final that would be under the 55 point mark the oddsmakers have set.
