Sam Darnold a good stream quarterback for Week 9 vs. Dolphins

Sam Darnold may still see ghosts at some point this year, but not against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. He’s worth streaming in fantasy in Week 9.

Let’s say your starting quarterback on your fantasy team is on bye in Week 9 and you’re not overly thrilled with who you have as your backup. This might be a good week to stream a signal-caller for a week and see what happens. One guy that’ll surely be available in your fantasy league this week is the struggling New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. Is he worth streaming in Week 9?

According to Jason Moore of The Fantasy Footballers, this would be the ideal week to stream Darnold for one simple reason: the Jets are playing the horrendous Miami Dolphins, a team that is actually worse than Gang Green this year. Everybody carves up the Dolphins defense, including Mason Rudolph of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who just lit them up on Monday Night Football.

So the Dolphins aren’t interested in winning games this season. They just lost in primetime on the road to a Steelers team with a backup quarterback coming back from injury. Darnold might have played like garbage against the New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars in the last two weeks, but the Dolphins are still the Dolphins.

The Jets may be a total grease fire this season with so much organizational chaos that it rivals the Cleveland Browns and the Washington Redskins. However, this is a game that the Jets can win and if they are going to win, Darnold has to play like a former No. 3 overall pick out of USC. If there is an opportunity for a get-right game for Gang Green, this has to be it.

It’s not just because the Dolphins are doing their very best imitation of the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers that gives Darnold and the Jets a fighting chance in this game. Keep in mind that New York head coach Adam Gase was the head coach in Miami just last year. He knows a ton about the personnel on that football team and may devise ways to exploit the defense in the passing game.

Overall, you shouldn’t sell the farm or bet your life savings on Darnold to have a great game against the Dolphins this week. But if you’re incredibly desperate for a quarterback this week and you really think the Dolphins are hot garbage in pads, then you ain’t afraid of no ghosts and should definitely stream Darnold this week versus the football monstrosity that is Miami in Week 9.
