Should fantasy football owners be worried about David Montgomery?

David Montgomery has been an inconsistent fantasy football running back all year for the Chicago Bears. Should his fantasy owners be worried on Sunday?

So the Chicago Bears have a big game on the road this week that they got to have. They will be playing the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football in Week 11. Los Angeles is 5-4 and in third place in the NFC West, while the Bears are in third place in the NFC North at 4-5. David Montgomery rolled his ankle in practice on Wednesday. Is this cause for concern for fantasy?

The Fantasy Footballers believe that if you can afford to not start Montgomery in primetime vs. the Rams, then you should pivot and start somebody else in his place to avoid potential fantasy frustration.

So if you have somebody else you can start at running back or in the flex, you probably need to do so than trying your luck with Montgomery working his way back from an ankle injury suffered mid-week in practice. While he has had a few good fantasy games this season, Montgomery isn’t the type of running back you can start and expect 20 points automatically.

Besides being an inconsistent back for fantasy purposes, this game between the Bears and Rams will be the second to last game of the Week 11 slate. Unless you have one of his Chicago teammates, a Ram or a member of either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Los Angeles Chargers on your bench, you need to start somebody in his place that is playing in an earlier time slot.

But if you have another Bear running back to work with, it’s not the end of the world to start him in place over Montgomery. The Rams aren’t world-beaters defensively anymore, as they are a far cry from the team that represented the NFC in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta last season.

While we all get that you might be in fantasy football hell regarding the running back position, let’s just hope that you’re not leaning on a big game out of Montgomery for you to win a fantasy game to stay alive in your playoff picture.
