NFL officials messed up the Cowboys coin toss call

It’s official. The NFL officials totally screwed up the coin toss between the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Rams. They didn’t listen to Dak Prescott!

With so much of the NFL world watching this high-profile game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Dallas Cowboys, it’s only fitting that something completely stupid was bound to happen. We thought it would be the Cowboys hurting themselves, as that’s what sub-.500 teams do all the time. But this time, we can 100 percent blame the NFL officials for this incompetence.

During the coin toss, you can hear Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott say that the Cowboys want to defer receiving the ball in the second half, as they wanted to kick to the visiting Rams and play defense. Well, when you don’t get what Prescott’s saying, you end up screwing up horrendously. No, the Cowboys didn’t’ want to kickoff to begin both halves. What were you thinking?

Initially, we all thought Prescott botched the coin toss verbiage, but it was clearly the official’s fault. It’s not like they haven’t done millions of coin tosses before. Could Prescott have been clearer in his message? Sure, but we all know what he wanted to do. Yet, the NFL looks so stupid once again. Let’s just hope this botch job of a coin toss doesn’t cost America’s Team.

Dallas needs to keep winning if the Cowboys want to win the putrid NFC East this year. Their archrival Philadelphia Eagles have won back-to-back games to challenge them for the division crown and the No. 4 seed in the NFC playoff picture. As for the Rams, they need to keep winning if they want to hang in the NFC playoff picture into the final weeks.

Rarely do officials screw up before the game even begins, but here we are. Since the Cowboys are the most popular team in the NFL, this coin toss will be talked about on national sports media throughout the early part of next week. It’s a bad look for officials and Roger Goodell is going to have to say something about the league’s latest gaff.
