How will new Carolina Panthers coaches impact fantasy football?

The Carolina Panthers hired Matt Rhule as their next head coach and Joe Brady as their new offensive coordinator. How will this impact Carolina in fantasy?

It will be a new era of Carolina Panthers football this season. Carolina owner David Tepper opted to bring in two new coaches to help revamp his NFC South team. He hired former Baylor Bears head coach Matt Rhule to rebuild this program, who went out and brought in former LSU Tigers passing game coordinator Joe Brady to run the Panthers offense. How should we feel about all of this?

The Fantasy Footballers look at how these two coaching moves could impact the Panthers in terms of fantasy football implications next season. Overall, they like the moves long-term for the Panthers. They respect the job Rhule did at Baylor and with the Temple Owls before that, as well as Brady having strong coaching roots in Louisiana with LSU and the New Orleans Saints.

However, there are two things about these coaches the guys have some concerns about initially in Carolina. With Rhule, Jason Moore points out that in his first year leading Temple and Baylor, Rhule won two games and one game, respectively. Then in year two leading these programs, Rhule had his team hovering around .500 before achieving double-digit winning seasons in year three.

Moore believes this is what Tepper is hoping for with his new football team. As for Brady, the two quarterbacks he’s best known working with are Drew Brees in New Orleans and presumptive No. 1 overall pick in this spring’s draft in Joe Burrow. Brees is a future Pro Football Hall of Famer, while Burrow just put together the greatest single-season in college football history by a quarterback.

Though Brady has worked with Brees and Burrow, those two quarterbacks have also worked with Brady, so that’s something to consider. Either way, Brady has aligned himself with good quarterbacking talent and has gotten the most out of it. However, what will Brady be able to get out of Teddy Bridgewater in 2020, the Panthers’ new starting quarterback?

Bridgewater is a former first-round pick, who ran the same offense with the Saints last year. He should be in good shape in Charlotte. However, the guys are concerned about Christian McCaffrey‘s effectiveness in this new college-style offense. He was used a ton last year in Norv Turner’s scheme. McCaffrey should be the No. 1 fantasy pick next year, but he may not live up to it.
