The Indianapolis Colts have seven picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, scattered across five rounds. Here is their latest 2020 NFL mock draft. Who will they take?

2020 will be a pretty interesting year for the Indianapolis Colts. After long-time starting quarterback Andrew Luck abruptly retired during the latter part of the preseason, Indianapolis largely underwhelmed with Jacoby Brissett inserted into the starting lineup. The Colts have since added former Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers to be their guy in 2020.

Though the Colts are a well-run organization with a great general manager in Chris Ballard and head coach Frank Reich, we’re not entirely sure how good Indianapolis will be next season. Surely, they’ll vie for the AFC South crown with the Tennessee Titans, but where will this team inevitably stack up in the evolving AFC?

Indianapolis has already made some savvy moves in free agency, including trading their first-round pick for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner with the San Francisco 49ers. This is a team that should compete for a playoff spot next season. However, they have to take advantage of the seven picks they’ll make in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

Indianapolis has primary draft needs out on the edge, at wide receiver and at quarterback. Secondary needs include guard, cornerback and offensive tackle. Tertiary needs are at safety, running back and linebacker. The Colts should be able to make their team better with a few smart draft selections. Here is the latest 2020 NFL mock draft for the Colts.

First Round

The Colts do not have a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. This stems from a trade Indianapolis made with San Francisco for Buckner during the early part of 2020 NFL free agency. Indianapolis gets a great defensive lineman still very much in his prime, while the 49ers will look to improve their team with another first-round pick, this one coming at No. 13 overall.

Second Round

34

Jordan Love

QB Utah State Aggies

It will be fascinating to see where Utah State Aggies quarterback Jordan Love lands in the 2020 NFL Draft. He could go inside of the top 10 or he could fall out of the first round entirely. Though he’s probably poised to be a late first-round pick, let’s say he falls to day two of the draft. Don’t think for a second the Colts won’t take him with the No. 34 overall pick in the second round.

The Colts have this pick from a draft-day trade made with the Washington Redskins a year ago. Washington was terrible last season, so look for the Colts to capitalize on having this top-40 pick. Though he could technically fall to them at No. 34, Indianapolis is still in a good position to move up back into the latter part of the first round to take the Utah State product should they feel like it.

44

John Simpson

G Clemson Tigers

The Colts already have an absolute beast at guard in Quenton Nelson. While the interior of the offensive line is not a primary draft need for Indianapolis, it would be hard for the Colts to pass up a big-time college performer in the trenches in the former John Simpson of the Clemson Tigers. He goes to the Colts at No. 44 overall in the second round of this NFL mock draft.

Simpson made the College Football Playoff every year he was at Clemson. He won a national title as a junior in 2018 and played for another in 2019. At 6-foot-4 and 330 pounds, Simpson projects as a high-end interior offensive lineman at the next level. He can be a big part of the Colts offense going forward, no matter what they decide to do at the quarterback position.
