Pete Carroll’s club is always in the playoff mix. But the Seattle Seahawks have five crucial games this season that could affect their postseason chances.

Since quarterback Russell Wilson joined the team as a third-round draft choice in 2012, the Seattle Seahawks have put together eight consecutive winning seasons and reached the playoffs seven times over that span. Despite an 11-5 record in 2019, this was a very suspect club, especially on the defensive side of the football.

Pete Carroll’s squad gave up almost as many points (398) as it scored (405). The club did go into Philadelphia and win a wild card game but not surprisingly, lost a 28-23 decision to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round one week later at Lambeau Field.

However, it’s a new year and the team is seeking its first division title since 2016.  So what are the five most important games on the schedule for Wilson and company?

5.  Home vs. Dallas Cowboys

It’s a club that Pete Carroll’s team has had some success against in recent years. But it’s also worth noting that the last time that the Seahawks clashed with the Dallas Cowboys, Russell Wilson and company were on the short end of a 24-22 score at Arlington in the 2018 NFC Wild Card Playoffs.

Prior to that, the ‘Hawks had prevailed in four of the previous five meetings dating back to 2012. While this contest will take place in the Pacific Northwest, keep in mind that it far from ensures victory. This past season, this team was an uncharacteristic 4-4 at home while flourishing elsewhere. The Seahawks won seven of their eight regular-season contests in 2019, prevailed at Philadelphia in the wild card round before falling to the Packers at Green Bay.

New Cowboys’ head coach Mike McCarthy will bring a talented team to Seattle and one more than capable of handing the ‘Hawks a home loss.
