Patrick Mahomes has spoken out on the George Floyd murder in his own statement.

The George Floyd murder in Minneapolis has impacted us all.

Many people across the great country of ours are heartbroken over the events that have occurred in the last week. Justice for George Floyd has been on the mind of so many, and a number of professional athletes have spoken out on the racial inequality plaguing our country. On Monday, Patrick Mahomes became the latest to issue a statement.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback tweeted out a screenshot of his feelings on the George Floyd murder and the events that have transpired since it happened. He mentions how he has strong feelings of the events, as the son of a black father and a white mother. As anything involving Mahomes, it was done with pure class and with intentions of unifying in these trying times.

Patrick Mahomes speaks out on the George Floyd murder on Twitter.

“First, I send prayers to the family and friends of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmad Aubrey,” said Mahomes. “As I have watched everything that has happened over the last week, and even before then, I have tried to put my feelings into words.”

“As a kid who was born with a black dad and a white mom, I have been blessed to be accepted for who I am my entire life, but that isn’t the case for everyone. The senseless murders we have witnessed are wrong and cannot continue in our country.”

He continued and finished up his statement with the following:

“We all need to treat each other like brothers and sisters, and become something better. Let’s be the world where my little sister, generations to come, and even my future kids will grow up never having to experience these tragedies and instead love each other unconditionally! Love and Unite! #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd”

Even though he’s just 24-years-old, Mahomes has become the face of the NFL in the last two years on sheer talent alone. While that’s great and all, he represents the league proudly for being a man of great character and one who stands up for what he believes in. Mahomes is a tremendous unifier, a man NFL fans should all be proud of representing our country’s most popular sports league.

Mahomes’ statement on George Floyd is exactly the type of message we needed to hear today.
