Every sports team and entertainment company recognizing Juneteenth

If your company has decided to recognize Juneteenth as a paid holiday, you’re not alone. Here are all the companies across sports and entertainment celebrating.

Juneteenth has long been an unofficial American holiday, celebrated by many Black Americans across the U.S.

On June 19, 1865, a Union army general read federal orders in Galveston proclaiming all enslaved persons in Texas were free. Texas was the last state in the Confederacy with slavery, and so the emancipation of enslaved Texans marked the emancipation of the last remaining Black Americans. Juneteenth, which draws its calendar date from this event, is just one of many days of historical significance on the path to freedom, but it is the most widely celebrated.

While Juneteenth celebrations spread out of Texas long ago, an unprecedented number of companies are choosing to recognize the day as a paid holiday in 2020 in ongoing attempts to fight racism on every front.

Here are the companies in sports and entertainment who have announced Juneteenth as a paid holiday.

We will update this list as needed.
