Randy Moss thinks Patriots offense will be more fun to watch with Cam Newton than Tom Brady

Randy Moss thinks Cam Newton will bring an element of excitement to the Patriots offense.

Randy Moss and Tom Brady came one win away from a perfect season with the Patriots in 2008, only to fall in the Super Bowl to the underdog Giants in one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport.

While Brady and Moss set all kinds of records that season, including a ridiculous 50 touchdown passes by Brady, 22 of which went to Moss, the Hall of Fame wideout thinks New England’s offense could be even more exciting with Cam Newton.

This isn’t to necessarily say that Newton is a better player, even as Brady enters his age-42 season. However, the Patriots offense now has a dynamic it had been lacking in season’s past.

Randy Moss thinks the Patriots will be way more fun to watch with Cam Newton than with Tom Brady.

“I think we are really getting ready to see how fun that offense can really be,” Moss said on ESPN’s Get Up. “Not discrediting anything Tom accomplished because he accomplished some great things, but I think being able to have a guy like Cam Newton that can run the ball, they are able to spread guys out and then being able to be that viable threat in the passing game that he can just tuck the ball and run.”

Newton’s never had an offensive coordinator as innovative as Josh McDaniels, and if he can make Denver-version Tim Tebow look like a capable option, then Newton should thrive assuming he’s given the opportunity.

Fair or not, the Patriot Way has been painted as fairly straight forward football, lacking the personality and flair that Newton brings to the table. Newton’s ground game, paired with his ability to extend plays with his legs, will provide New England with an element they’ve been lacking for two decades under Brady.

While that will lead to a greater entertainment factor, wins and losses are all Bill Belichick cares about.
