2019 NFL Draft stock watch: N’Keal Harry continues to amaze

Week 10 of the college football season did not bring the shocking upset some hoped, but it did have impact performances for those looking to make the jump to the NFL Draft.

Let’s be honest here, there will not be another college football game played this season with as much NFL talent on the field as the Alabama-LSU game gave us Saturday night. After a competitive start, the Crimson Tide rolled away from their biggest foe. There were other players who helped and hurt their stock outside of that game, but scouts were locked into Baton Rouge. Here is the stock report for the players that made the most impact to their draft status after Saturday.

5. Greedy Williams, CB, LSU – Stock neutral

The LSU defense features possibly four first round selections on their defensive backfield. Atop that depth chart is corner Greedy Williams. This Saturday was Williams’ biggest test going against the Alabama receivers and Tua Tagovailoa. Williams was holding his own at the beginning of the game but as the offense of the Tide started putting things together, it was clear Williams was struggling. Unfortunately for Williams, this game will call into question his ability to win in two ways, at the line of scrimmage and over the top. Tagovailoa was able to beat the draft’s top corner deep for Alabama’s biggest game. Williams is still the top corner in the country and he’s not the only one to have a sub-optimal game vs. Alabama this year, so it’s not altogether that damaging.

4. Tyree Jackson, QB & Antony Johnson, WR Buffalo – Stock up

If you have not heard, this quarterback class could be lacking if Justin Herbert and Dwayne Haskins stay in school. A name you will hear a lot come draft time is Buffalo’s, Tyree Jackson. This weekend he put on a show with 358 yards passing and six total touchdowns. Jackson has the size and arm strength the NFL will crave. He’s also shown an ability to break free of the pocket and make plays with his legs. Jackson will surely be a riser up draft boards as the process plays out. He has a chance to jump some bigger names like Will Grier with continued success this season.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s favorite target Anthony Johnson was out there just dominating the Miami corners. Johnson finished with 238 yards on eight catches and three touchdowns. Johnson, like his quarterback, will see his name continue to rise draft boards. The senior is a big play threat who at times looks like he is a man among boys out there. Johnson adds to an already loaded wide receiver class.

3. Benny Snell, RB, Kentucky – Stock down

If you have read this article before, you know that Benny Snell may be my favorite running back prospect in the 2019 class. Snell is a tough runner who fights for every single yard any time he touches the ball. That did not turn out well for him this weekend against an extremely tough Georgia defense. What this game really showed though is that Snell’s lack of elite athleticism will lead to struggles at the next level. He will find a role and a home on Sunday’s but he needs to show more if there are top-100 expectations.

2. Michigan defenders – Stock up

The Michigan Wolverines are on a run through the Big Ten. Saturday’s embarrassment of Penn State is just another leg of their “Revenge Tour” in 2018. The Wolverines defense is stepping up. The big name is Rashan Gary who returned from injury to a quiet stat line of only one hurry. His presence though will open up the rest of the defense, mostly for Chase Winovich. The powerful defensive lineman is going to be an interesting study come draft time. He may lack the elite athleticism to play the edge and the size to play inside every down. Corner’s David Long and Lavert Hill are names to watch for the draft as well. Long looked really good Saturday and snagged one of two interceptions on the day.

1. N’Keal Harry, WR, Arizona State – Stock up

It feels like every week in this article the name N’Keal Harry pops up and rightfully so. Harry is making his case to be the top wide receiver in a very talented positional group for 2019. This weekend Harry not only had an insane highlight reel catch but he hauled in nine catches for 161 yards and three touchdowns. There were questions entering the season with Harry but he is answering them all. He is showing his run-after-catch ability to go with the highlight catches. Harry looks like a do-it-all receiver who will thrive in the NFL’s space.
