As tensions rise between Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the wide receiver liked a tweet stating that Ben Roethlisberger raped two women.
Antonio Brown is ready to move on from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brown has made his feelings clear in recent weeks. On Wednesday, FanSided reported that he hasn’t been returning the organization’s messages. Brown also tweeted a farewell video to the team and the fanbase. As he said in the tweet, “time to move on and forward.”
On Friday, Brown increased tensions with the Steelers by liking tweets from K.I.P. The tweets claims the Steelers fans want to “get rid of [Brown]” because “he hits women” but idolize Ben Roethlisberger. It then asks “Didn’t he rape two college girls,” in reference to Roethlisberger. Brown also liked a follow-up tweet stating that Roethlisberger “never had chargers stick because he settled $$.”
Roethlisberger was accused sexual assault in two separate incidents. An incident with a 20-year-old woman in Atlanta resulted in no charges, while he settled a suit from a woman claiming Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in Lake Tahoe in 2008.
Brown’s life has been chaotic this past year. He’s made the news for threatening an ESPN reporter, allegedly throwing furniture off a 14th floor balcony, being accused of domestic violence, and being convicted of reckless driving, after driving 100 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.
Brown and the Steelers had a tense ending to the 2018 season that resulted in him being benched for the final game. A few weeks ago, FanSided reported that both sides remained open to reconciling. That appears to be a pipe dream at this juncture.
Brown is on a three-year, $39 million dollar deal and the offensive talent in Pittsburgh is unparalleled in the league. Still, the 30-year-old star wants out, hoping to get a fresh start with another franchise.
At this point, Brown is doing all he can to napalm his relationship with Roethlisberger and the Steelers. While Brown didn’t directly say or tweet anything in relation to his quarterback, the liking of tweets with such subject matter strongly suggest that he’s willing to do whatever it takes to sever the ties between him and the team.
