NFL Draft 2019: Atlanta Falcons full mock draft

With one of the best overall talent collections in the NFL, it was a disappointing 2018 for the Atlanta Falcons. A strong class from the 2019 NFL Draft can push them back into the Super Bowl picture.

It seems like forever ago that the Atlanta Falcons were blowing a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. In fact, that was only three years ago. Atlanta’s roster remains relatively the same, save for a few fringe pieces. Why then did they fail to make the playoffs in 2018?

Overall it was an odd year for the Falcons. They could never get everything going at the same time. Injuries on defense made the unit weaker than what they expected. Running back Devonta Freeman missed more than half the season as well, impacting the offense.

Slight changes will be made for the 2019 season. Quietly head coach Dan Quinn will go back to calling the defense. Quinn was in the same role during the Falcons Super Bowl run. On offense they brought in former Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter to maximize the talent the unit has. There are signs that the Falcons could be back to their winning ways next season.

On the field Atlanta was smart to keep defensive tackle Grady Jarrett around on a franchise tag. He’s a critical piece in the middle for that team and is worth that price. Other than that the Falcons did not make too many impact moves. They are clearly concerned about their offensive line bringing in two veteran guards to compete for spots there.

Entering the 2019 NFL Draft there are few holes on the roster overall. In this mock draft, done using The Draft Network’s mock draft machine and the site’s predictive board, the Falcons will look to fill out the fringes for another deep postseason run. There are no trades in this mock draft, only the teams selecting in their respective slots.
