New York Jets sign Arya Stark of Game of Thrones

Despite additions over the course of the NFL Draft, the New York Jets demonstrated Monday that they are not done making additions to help improve the team.

The New York Jets had a busy weekend at the 2019 NFL Draft, drafting six players including two projected defensive starters along the line of scrimmage (third overall pick Quinnen Williams and third-round pick Jachai Polite).

In addition, the team added 17 undrafted rookie free agents. Those 23 players, along with numerous regional tryout invitees, will participate in the team’s rookie mini-camp this weekend.

And one more name will be added to the roster. The team announced Monday that they had added Arya Stark to the roster in a surprise and bold move by the franchise on the rise.

Originally projected as a wide receiver, during the post-draft NFL Combine, Survivor version (i.e., the Battle of Winterfell), Stark proved that she is highly versatile and likely projects into an enforcer/safety role in the NFL.

(Spoiler alert) Stark had quite the busy weekend, too, as she teamed up with Jon Snow and others to stand against the White Walkers; in the process of preparing for the battle, she procured a new weapon (a staff featuring dragon glass blades) and lost her virginity to Gendry.

In the battle itself, Arya proved herself not only to be prepared for the gauntlet of the National Football League, but also destroyed the Night King, single-handedly destroying both the Army of the Dead and the White Walkers in the process.

In doing so, she fulfilled her destiny to “shut many eyes forever,” a destiny which was originally told to her by Melisandre.

To follow that sort of endeavor up with an NFL roster invite shows incredibly hard work and versatility as a competitor. It seems that after fulfilling her destiny in the battle, Stark has now moved on to another battle.

While her experience in battle should suit her well, her lack of experience on the (football) gridiron makes it difficult to see her making it out of camp with a spot on the final 53. Still, we wouldn’t dare bet against her; lest we too become victims of Bran’s Valyrian steel dagger.
