Expectations are sky-high surrounding the Browns in 2019. Here are five bold predictions for Baker Mayfield and company as they try to reach the playoffs.
There’s a very different feeling surrounding the Browns heading into the 2019 season. There are actually expectations in Cleveland. If first year head coach Freddie Kitchens doesn’t pilot this team to the postseason there are going to be a lot of unhappy fans in Northeast Ohio.
To put it mildly, Kitchens has some explosive personalities to manage. Baker Mayfield enjoyed an excellent rookie season at quarterback, but he definitely likes to talk on and off the field. Odell Beckham makes him look like a choir boy. Throw in Jarvis Landry and it’s easy to see why keeping the locker room under control is going to be a big challenge for Kitchens.
That doesn’t mean everything will go according to plan for the Browns this season. It’s fair to expect the unexpected. Keep a close eye on these five bold predictions for Cleveland in 2019.
5. Greedy Williams will make the Pro Bowl
Williams dropped in the draft due to concerns about his technique and tackling. Notice, there were zero questions about his athleticism and talent. The latter tends to win out in the NFL.
The former LSU star may struggle early, but look for him to really come into his own during the second half of the season. He’s really going to benefit from playing against the other team’s No. 2 wide receiver on almost every snap. Denzel Ward will continue to take the toughest match-up on a weekly basis.
His ability to create turnovers is really going to have a profound effect on the Browns defense. It will be enough to earn him a Pro Bowl bid in his rookie season. A lot of NFL executives are going to be kicking themselves for letting Williams get out of the first round.
