NFL Week 12 picks against the spread

We’re in Week 12 of the NFL season, and there are still some teams that are different every week. We look beyond the simple numbers to see how you should place your bets this week.

Every week, we learn something new about half of the teams in the NFL. Obviously, every year we see major changes among teams because certain injuries or changes in the lineup change how a team plays. Even with teams going with the same players, a slight change in philosophy could make major changes in results.

The playoff race makes everything very interesting across the league. Seven teams in the AFC are fighting for Wild Card spots, while the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens both know one mistake could secure the number-one seed for the other team. Then in the NFC, two teams with two losses all season are currently slated to play on Wild Card Weekend. The New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks have been dominant, but they’re still on the outside of the first round byes looking in.

That extremely competitive last month and a half of the season makes betting on these teams even better. We know teams can’t take games off, so generally the better teams should win. Obviously, that doesn’t always hold true.

This week, we have a lot of intriguing matchups. We have eight games between -2.5 and -4.5, meaning they are very close in talent level. This will be a very fun week to make picks.

Last Week: 8-6

Thursday Night Football

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans (-4)

How will the Houston Texans react to getting completely demolished by the Baltimore Ravens. Losing by 34 is really humbling to a team, especially one that thought they were legitimate contenders in the AFC. Now, the Texans and Deshaun Watson are questioning who they really are. They immediately have to take on the other best team in the AFC South; the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts welcomed back Jacoby Brissett this week, and he led the offense to one of their best games yet. They beat up on the Jacksonville Jaguars 33-13. They did that without wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who says he could suit up as soon as this week. That’s huge for bettors, but buyer beware. He’s left in the middle of games before. The funny secret about the Colts is they are a terrible bet this month. The team is 1-3 against the spread in their last four games.

Jump on this bet at the current number as soon as you can. We see a very back-and-forth matchup between two teams looking to hold onto their highly-coveted playoff spots. The Colts did lose Marlon Mack, which could make for an interesting change in offense, but Brissett is one week healthier. This is too many points, and we expect the bettors to knock it down to close to three as we head towards Thursday.

Pick: Indianapolis (+4)
