The Las Vegas Raiders need to make a few big splashes in free agency. They should be all-in on Jadeveon Clowney and Robby Anderson.

The Las Vegas Raiders need to take some home-run cuts in free agency.

The Silver and Black have left the Bay Area for Sin City this winter. No longer will the Raiders have to play in the worst football stadium in America. They will have a new, state-of-the-art facility they’ll share with the Mountain West’s UNLV Rebels. Allegiant Stadium is a game-changer, but the Raiders need to add a few pieces to the team to amp up the excitement.

Two players they need to actively pursue in free agency are Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson. They will be upgrades to an improving roster, as well as tremendous assets for the Raiders’ one-of-a-kind brand.

Clowney is the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He spent his first five years in Houston, where he made three trips to the Pro Bowl. Clowney was tagged by the Texans before he was traded to the Seahawks in 2019. Seattle can’t tag Clowney as part of the trade, allowing him make bank on a new deal with a new team.

As for Anderson, he emerged as the best receiver in New York these last few years. No, it has not been a great situation in East Rutherford, but Anderson has shown he can be a solid No. 2 receiver in a struggling NFL offense. Head coach Jon Gruden would love to have him play opposite of Tyrell Williams in this Raiders’ offense.

Not only would adding Clowney and Anderson accentuate the Raiders’ pass rush and receiving corps, but they would definitely bring some of that bad boy swagger we’ve all grown to love about the Silver and Black over the years. Let’s not forget about Nevada not having any state income tax and the Raiders should be able to land both relatively easily with their available cap space.

If the Raiders are able to land either of these guys, it will certainly help them contend for a Wild Card spot next fall.
