What is Leonard Fournette’s dynasty trade value?

If you have Leonard Fournette in a dynasty league, it’s important to know what you can get for him in terms of overall trade value if you need to move on.

Leonard Fournette is about to enter year four in the NFL as the Jacksonville Jaguars starting running back. Jacksonville used the No. 4 overall pick on Fournette in the 2017 NFL Draft out of LSU. While he has had his ups and downs as a professional, he showcased an ability to catch passes out of the backfield unlike ever before. What is his value in a fantasy dynasty league?

The Fantasy Footballers discussed this very topic. Andy Holloway asked if you would be willing to part ways with Fournette for the No. 3 overall pick in a dynasty league draft? The idea is excellent college running backs like D’Andre Swift and Jonathan Taylor will come off the board around then among the 2020 NFL rookie class in dynasty leagues. So you could totally reload with that pick.

Jason Moore believes you should move on from Fournette for a dynasty league pick in that range. He says that even though Fournette will be 25-years-old in 2020, the running back position is finicky in and of itself, meaning that players go from great in fantasy to falling off a cliff in the blink of an eye.

Mike Wright echoes Moore’s sentiment in if you can get a top-three dynasty league pick for Fournette, then you should make the trade. He does understand that Fournette will likely have another great fantasy year in 2020. So you’ll have to accept this if you were to part ways with him before he exits his fantasy football prime.

However, Fournette may be on another team in 2021. This really depends on if the Jaguars extend him the fifth-year option from being a former first-round pick. Jacksonville has done a ton of wheeling and dealing of late, so he may not play out his first five NFL seasons with the team that drafted him. Depending on where he ends up, Jacksonville or not, this decides everything.

Fournette came out of LSU as your typically run-first, bell-cow back. While isn’t as block-handed as we initially thought, he’s still closer to Adrian Peterson than a Marshall Faulk in terms of fantasy football value. Fournette still has tremendous dynasty league value entering 2020, so if you’re looking to sell high on him, you should do it before the start of this upcoming season.
