New England Patriots changing uniforms for 2020 season

The New England Patriots will be one of seven NFL teams bringing a new look to 2020.

A new uniform typically brings excitement but after seeing flops like the Los Angeles Rams logo, it sometimes gives cause to pause. In the case of New England, we’re here for it. The logo will remain the same but the jerseys will be different, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The Patriots could use a rebranding going forward. They are entering their first decade since the 1990s without quarterback Tom Brady. What better way to have Boston fans shelve their Brady jerseys than by making TB12’s wardrobe look outdated?

While the uniforms are rumored to only change subtly, the anticipation of what’s to come has built excitement on Twitter. Will this be the equivalent to how every year it was difficult to notice the difference between the Porsche 911 Turbo from the next year’s model? Or will this be a satisfying update or even a nod to a past retro look, as wide receiver Julian Edelman alluded to on Twitter?

Either way, if the Patriots want to take a risk the time is now. If it flops, at least the diehard fans will be grateful Brady wasn’t subjected to wear such a uniform. If it’s a hit, maybe their current quarterbacks on the roster can generate more sales than they would otherwise.
