Stefon Diggs is now the undisputed No. 1 wide receiver on the Buffalo Bills, but is he still a top-15 wide receiver in fantasy football on his new team?
The Buffalo Bills gave up the farm to trade for wide receiver Stefon Diggs a few weeks ago. Buffalo has a great roster, but needed a true No. 1 wide receiver to help bring along third-year quarterback Josh Allen. Diggs was good with the Minnesota Vikings, but is he ready to be great in Buffalo? Will he be a top-15 fantasy wide receiver in his first year in Orchard Park?
The Fantasy Footballers are split on how they view the Diggs trade between the Bills and the Vikings. Mike Wright is not a fan of it because Diggs went from one of the most accurate passers in the NFL in Kirk Cousins to one of the least accurate starters in the league in Allen. Jason Moore, however, feels the exact opposite about the trade.

Moore believes since Diggs isn’t challenging for the No. 1 receiver job on the Bills as he was the last few years in Minnesota with Adam Thielen that he’ll see even greater production now that he’s in Buffalo. From an offensive schematic standpoint, the Bills and the Vikings go about things in a similar way. They love to run the ball and play great defense, occasionally throwing the ball.
Last season saw Diggs be WR21 in fantasy leagues, but is he good enough to be WR15 on his new team? The guys see him somewhere in that WR17 range, which is an improvement over what he was in Minnesota, but not quite a WR15. While he doesn’t have Thielen to draw coverage away from him anymore, keep in mind that Thielen was largely banged up last season and Diggs shined.
Moore expects Diggs to get a sizable market share in the Bills’ passing game. He’s a better overall receiver over John Brown and Cole Beasley, so he’ll either lead the team in targets or be close to it if Allen relies on Beasley in the slot a ton. What this comes down to is if Allen improves his accuracy ever so slightly. He may never be great at this, but any improvement would be good.
Overall, let’s side with Diggs being under the WR15 threshold. It’s a weird offseason for everyone. He’s joining a new team with an inaccurate passer on a franchise who plays in the frigid cold outdoors. Diggs should be a 1,000-yard receiver next fall no doubt, but it’ll be a work in progress for him to emerge as the bona fide No. 1 option he so coveted during his time with the Vikings.
