Joe Burrow is off to a great start for the Bengals.
Being drafted No. 1 overall usually means joining a team that still needs a lot of work done before being successful. That is true for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Burrow has taken his fair share of hard hits through four games and finally got a win in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even with all the hits and the lack of a preseason to prepare, Burrow is still lighting up opposing defenses and making history.
Joe Burrow sets a new record
Offensive numbers are up a ton around the NFL this season. Add Burrow to the list of contributors after his 300-yard day against the Jaguars.
Burrow’s first game of the year against the Los Angeles Chargers saw him finish with only 193 yards. He has not thrown for under 300 yards since and has all six of his passing touchdowns over the past three weeks. The rookie still had a rushing touchdown in Week 1, even with the passing trouble.
The Bengals are now 1-2-1 and both losses on the season each came by a single-digit margin. Burrow has the Bengals playing well and he is also limiting mistakes with only two interceptions thrown so far this season.
With two games yet to be played Monday night Burrow currently ranks seventh overall in the NFL in passing yards. He is also second in attempts behind Dak Prescott. The Bengals coaches trust their rookie with the ball and it is great to see a No. 1 pick putting up great stats instead of showing up in the NFL and looking like a bust.
Burrow is the future in Cincinnati and has a chance to keep making history in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.
