J.J. Watt’s postgame reaction to blowout loss will fuel trade rumors (Video)

The Houston Texans defensive end has had it with what’s happening at NRG Stadium

What does a 1-6 start do to a franchise player? Well, if you’re J.J. Watt, it forces you to hit your limit.

Watt’s silence was the loudest reaction he could have when addressing the media following a 35-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Even at full-strength, the Texans offense couldn’t find a rhythm while the defense was torched by a four-touchdown outing from Aaron Rodgers.

It wasn’t what Watt said, but rather how he said it. The tone is key when addressing frustration and it’s clear the monotone sounds uttering from his mouth prove that he’s in the pure annoyance stage.

The Texans couldn’t add pressure even with Packers’ left tackle David Bakhtiari out with a chest injury. The run game that was missing Aaron Jones rushed for over 100 yards while the team allowed a late touchdown to Jamaal Williams to seal a victory for the 5-1 Packers. Meanwhile, Rodgers connected with six targets for 283 yards, 196 going to Devante Adams.

Overall, Watt and the defense need to take ownership of this loss. The offense found a rhythm late, scoring 13 of their 20 points in the fourth quarter. If plays like a 45-yard touchdown to Adams don’t happen early, maybe Green Bay would be playing catch-up instead of holding the lead.

Could the Texans trade J.J. Watt in the coming week?

Watt hasn’t particularly been his normal self in 2020. Through seven games, the 31-year-old has tallied 12 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble. Now with Bill O’Brien out of the picture along with two early draft picks, Houston has to at least consider freeing up cap space and cutting ties with players who could bring value in the form of picks.

With the Texans on the bye in Week 8, this could be the last time Texans fans see Watt suit up in the red white and blue. And with comments like that, he might be ready for a change of scenery as well.
