Joe Mixon’s foot injury may keep him out vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10.
Sunday vs. the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers does not feel like the game running back Joe Mixon will return to the Cincinnati Bengals. Mixon has not played since Week 6’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts with a foot injury. He missed Week 7 and Week 8’s action for Cincinnati. The Bengals were on bye in Week 9. It is not looking good for his Week 10 return vs. Pittsburgh.
The Fantasy Footballers did not like the fact that Mixon did not participate in the Bengals’ practices on Wednesday and Thursday coming off the bye. He is deemed doubtful on Sunday vs. the Steelers. Because the Bengals did not even see how the foot looked in practice, you can feel confident about leaving Mixon on your bench and going with another running back in fantasy.

Even if Mixon is listed as active vs. Pittsburgh on Sunday, you should not look to start him, even in the flex in a last-ditch effort to field a lineup. This does not look to be one of those games the Bengals will be running the ball a ton anyway, as it will be a road game at the undefeated Steelers who want to make up for a lot of wrongs made in last week’s narrow win vs. the Dallas Cowboys.
How will the Bengals look to beat the Steelers without Joe Mixon?
Let’s be real. If the Bengals upset the Steelers on the road this season, it will serve as their Super Bowl. Cincinnati is a better team than it was a season ago, but the Bengals are not yet ready to be a playoff team by any stretch of the imagination. However, the Steelers are beatable, especially with a team that does not particularly care for them coming to town, hoping to pull off the upset.
The best ways for the Bengals to defeat the Steelers are to get after Ben Roethlisberger, roll around in the mud a bit to get in Pittsburgh’s head and let rookie quarterback Joe Burrow go to work. Cincinnati will need to win the turnover battle, as well as have the Steelers play down to their level. The way the Bengals flip the script is with Burrow out-dueling Roethlisberger.
Even though Roethlisberger is coming off one of his better games of the year, he did have to briefly exit last week’s game due to injury. He may be a big body back there at quarterback, but he is nowhere near as mobile as he used to be. This is an opportunity for Burrow to show us how good he can be when facing a future Pro Football Hall of Famer within the AFC North division.
