Week 15 served as an important set of days for a variety of NFL teams. Some looking to clinch or inch closer to a playoff berth, while others saw their NFL Draft position rise (hello Jacksonville Jaguars). But this past week was especially huge for fantasy football owners, especially those looking to advance to their league’s championship game.
As it turns out, many managers’ lives depend on one player participating in Monday night’s Pittsburgh Steelers-Cincinnati Bengals game. No, it’s not JuJu Smith-Schuster or Chase Claypool. Rather, it’s Steelers tight end Eric Ebron, as evidenced by the variety of tweets surfacing on Twitter.
Ebron hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 11
Those fantasy football owners should temper their expectations, as their offense has been stagnant in recent weeks.
Without a solid running game, the Steelers have struggled putting up points on the board. They won’t receive much help this week either, as starting running back James Conner was ruled out ahead of the Bengals game, meaning that Benny Snell will get the start.
Ebron last got in the end zone back in Week 11 when the Steelers routed the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. The veteran tight end caught four-of-seven targets for 36 yards and a touchdown. However, Ebron has put up the catches that many points per reception teams craves. Back in Week 12, the tight end caught seven passes for 54 yards against the Baltimore Ravens, while recording seven receptions for 68 yards last week versus the Washington Football Team. However, Ebron hasn’t got the much-desired touchdowns that fantasy managers crave.
To make those who have Ebron in their starting lineup even more nervous, he only put up two catches for 38 yards back in Week 10.
