Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles

Refs gift Cowboys serious home cooking on Jalen Hurts so-called fumble (Video)

The referees gave the Dallas Cowboys a belated Christmas gift at the expense of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The Week 16 game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles was a must-win for both teams. With a win, they’d enter the final week of the season with a chance to clinch the NFC East crown. Unfortunately for the Eagles, who were already losing at the time, they were robbed by the officials inside Jerry World. Shocking, we know.

During the fourth quarter, Eagles rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts scrambled past the line of scrimmage but appeared to have fumbled the ball once tackled by Cowboys edge rushers DeMarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory. But after watching a replay, Hurts’ knees were clearly down before the ball left his grasp. Even so, the ruling stood as called, allowing the Cowboys to gain possession.

Fumble ruling ices the Eagles

How the referees can call that, look at the video replay and uphold said call is truly amazing. As a result, the game was essentially over.

Entering this game, the Eagles had the opportunity to be the incredible spoilers. If they were to defeat the Cowboys on Sunday, then they’d eliminate Dallas and the New York Giants from playoff contention, allowing them to face the Washington Football Team in Week 17 with the NFC East title on the line.. Instead, the Eagles were eliminated with their 37-17 loss, with the Cowboys, Giants and the Football Team competing for the division next week.

Hurts tried his damndest to keep Philadelphia in playoff contention, but it just wasn’t enough. The rookie completed 21-of-39 pass attempts for 342 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while rushing for 69 yards on nine carries.

Even though the game was basically over beforehand, but it doesn’t make the fumble call any less worse. Because it was a truly awful decision by the officiating crew.
