NFL Offseason, Seattle Seahawks

Jamal Adams latest injury update proves he’s toughest player in the NFL

With the Seattle Seahawks season over, Jamal Adams heads to the injured list

After three seasons playing for the struggling New York Jets, Jamal Adams wasn’t wasting his shot. The Seattle Seahawks safety vowed to play in the postseason after learning he had suffered a shoulder and finger injury.

Now, Adams will undergo the knife this offseason.

According to multiple reports, Adams will have surgery to fix a torn labrum in his left shoulder and several fingers on his left hand. The Pro Bowl safety suffered the injury in the season finale against San Francisco earlier this month.

Adams finished Saturday’s loss with four total tackles and three pass deflections.

“I guess I don’t have any luck on my left side right now,” Adams told reporters following an early playoff exit.

Adams’ season could build for the future

Seattle will need to find a way to agree to terms with Adams, who enters the final year of his rookie contract next season. The team traded away their 2021 and 2022 first-round picks, along with a third-round selection to the Jets for his services.

So far, Adams has lived up to the hype as a difference-maker in the 12th Man secondary. He finished with 83 tackles and a team-high 9.5 sacks.

Adams was at the forefront of a controversial moment Saturday afternoon. A hit towards Rams starter John Wolford forced him to leave with a neck injury and be further evaluated at a nearby hospital. Goff would enter the game and throw for 115 yards and a touchdown to claim the win.

Adams did send his best over to Wolford, wishing him a speedy recovery.

The team will have an offseason to improve, but things will need to change. Adams, a costly investment should spend the offseason getting his body right.

The Seahawks, who once again failed to match their regular-season status to the postseason, better hope for better results with a strong offseason.
