3 offensive coordinators Seahawks need to hire to help Russ cook

The Seattle Seahawks need to find a new offensive coordinator to support Russell Wilson.

The Seattle Seahawks were given plenty of chances to take down Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams, but Russell Wilson and their passing attack managed just 11 completed passes against a smothering Brandon Staley defense. Much-maligned offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer had to fall on the sword, losing his job as a result of this performance.

Pete Carroll and the Seahawks should look for someone that can get the most out of Wilson’s skillset to replace him, and these three coaches look like perfect candidates.

The Seahawks should consider adding one of these three coaches as a coordinator

Yes, he was the guy who passed on the one-yard line, but he was also the coach who banged the table for Seattle to draft Wilson in the first place, so Bevell’s tenure with the Seahawks as the offensive coordinator wasn’t a wash.

Bevell was Seattle’s offensive coordinator from 2011-17, after spending five years in the same role in Minnesota, and became one of the few tolerable parts of the Matt Patricia era in Detroit.

Under Bevell’s watch, Lions receiver Kenny Golladay became a legit star, while Matthew Stafford had arguably the best two-year stretch of his career given how efficient he was. Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, Seattle might go back to someone they know and trust in Bevell, who knows exactly what makes Wilson tick.

Bevell, who helped coach up Brett Favre in Green Bay before helping out Wilson become the future Hall of Famer he is today, has shown that he can still be an effective play-caller at the next level, and he clearly is someone that has respect from Wilson and within the Seahawks organization as a whole. If anyone can provide Russ with the ingredients he needs to “cook” like he was in the first half of the season, it’s Bevell.
