Drew Brees’ wife reveals hidden injuries he played through in 2020

No one will ever question Drew Brees’ toughness, especially after his wife shared some of the injuries he was playing with this campaign.

Drew Brees has put together one heck of an NFL career, and all signs are pointing to him retiring after the New Orleans Saints’ season came to an end last weekend with a defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While Brees hasn’t made his decision yet, that’s the expectation.

Should Brees indeed hang up his cleats, he’ll go down as one of the toughest dudes to ever line up behind center. Need further proof of that? Brees’ wife took to Instagram to share the additional injuries the veteran signal-caller played through this campaign. Seriously, how was he able to keep playing?

Drew Brees played through some insane injuries in 2020

Unreal. While we all knew about Brees’ collapsed lung and 11 fractured ribs, who knew about his torn rotator cuff and foot injury? The man should have been visiting with doctors every week instead of taking the field for big games, yet he somehow didn’t complain and fought through all of that pain.

Brees was the subject to plenty of criticism throughout the year and rightfully so, as he couldn’t throw the ball around with the same kind of zip and velocity as normal. Now knowing all of the injuries he was battling, it’s much easier to see why he was struggling so much.

Despite said struggles, he still helped New Orleans go 12-4 during the regular season, while also taking down the Bears 21-9 in the Wild Card Round. While this very well may be it for Brees and his playing days, it’s impossible not to admire his toughness he showcased each and every year. He’ll always be a New Orleans legend for that.
