Houston Texans, NFL Offseason

Texans dysfunction is summed up by quote on Jack Easterby

The Houston Texans are in turmoil and now, the franchise could be getting worse if Jack Easterby plays a role.

How much worse can things get for the Houston Texans?

After a 4-12 season, the only light is Deshaun Watson. However, all reports flooding in around the league say Watson wants out of NRG Stadium and is hopeful to be moved this offseason.

And things are only getting worse.

According to reports per FanSided’s Matt Verderame, some believe that Executive Vice President of Football Operations Jack Easterby will single-handedly set back Texans’ organization for years to come.

“The guys I trust, including a guy big in Houston, he wants to kill him,” a well-connected league source told Verderame. “He goes ‘this guy is a f***ing idiot. He’s got the owner’s ear and he’s going to ruin the whole organization.’”

Will Jack Easterby be stopped before he causes more damage?

Waston’s frustrations with the franchise are not at newly-appointed general manager Nick Caserio, but rather Easterby and owner Cal McNair. The two parties agreed to make his voice heard this offseason but so far have all but broken his trust.

Houston remains the final time without a head coach in the 2020 NFL coaching carousel hires. All reports indicate the decision will come between Buffalo defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Bieniemy, who will be coaching in his second Super Bowl, was originally Watson’s top selection this offseason.

Everyone has questioned the moves of the Texans since the 24-0 debacle last season in Arrowhead. The one positive has been Watson, who set a franchise record in a lost season and was the only offensive standout with or without Bill O’Brien.

Caserio is qualified to lead the Texans after 19 seasons working in New England. The only problem is Easterby will remain in the building with a say on every move. And it’s clear that between the two, McNair will side with his right-hand man over anyone else at this point.

The flames could be put out in mere seconds but instead, McNair adds more fuel to the fire.
