Ben Roethlisberger’s agent confirms he’ll return to the Steelers next season

The Pittsburgh Steelers won’t need a new starter for 2021 as Ben Roethlisberger’s agent has confirmed the veteran signal-caller will be back next season.

One last go? While there was speculation that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could end up hanging up his cleats and call it a career, that doesn’t look to be the case. Nope, Roethlisberger will be back in the fold next fall.

According to NFL Network reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala, Roethlisberger’s agent has confirmed with her that the two sides are ready to get things done contract wise and the veteran signal-caller will indeed return as the starter come next season.

Ben Roethlisberger is all set to return in 2021 as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback

After star offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey announced his retirement, Steelers fans were worried Roethlisberger would follow suit. That’s not happening.

The Pittsburgh legend just wrapped up his 17th campaign in the NFL, all with the Steelers. In 2020, Roethlisberger threw for 3,803 yards and 33 touchdowns. Unfortunately for him and Pittsburgh, the Steelers suffered a stunning defeat to the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Following that loss, Roethlisberger and others were seen walking off the field in tears. At that moment, it truly felt like he had played his last game for the organization. Throughout the offseason, however, more and more optimism has grown of late that he’d be back for at least one more year. Things only grew when Roethlisberger met with team president Art Rooney II this week.

Now, Roethlisberger will be ready to suit up for his 18th NFL season. He’ll turn 39 years old on March 2, but he’s shown he still has plenty of fire left to help the Steelers go on a postseason run. Come 2021, we’ll see if he can help the team push for a Super Bowl.
