The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that starting next season, there will be a big change in the name at Arrowhead Stadium.
While plenty of Kansas City Chiefs fans remain heartbroken over the disappointing showing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl, many others are ready to put that in the past and get ready for 2021. Well, so are the Chiefs, who are already busy making some big moves.
While it may not be in regards to free agency, the team has just announced that Arrowhead Stadium will be getting a name makeover starting with the upcoming campaign.
The home of the Kansas City Chiefs will now be called GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium
Indeed, the Chiefs announced on Thursday that they reached a naming rights deal with GEHA (insurance company), and that Arrowhead Stadium will now be known as GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium moving forward.
“Our relationship with GEHA over the last few years has only served to reinforce the alignment between our two organizations and proven their strong, long-standing relationship with the local community,” Chiefs president Mark Donovan said via the team statement. “This expanded partnership will continue to build lasting health and wellness programs that support the team, GEHA and our community.”
As for the action back on the gridiron, the Chiefs are hoping to get themselves back to the Super Bowl for the third consecutive campaign come next February. After winning it all last year, Kansas City wasn’t able to get their repeat done and watched Tampa Bay and Tom Brady lift the Lombardi trophy high into the sky last month.
That’s all forgotten, though, with Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the guys on the roster already chomping at the bit to fire back into action. When they do suit up at home for the first time next fall, they’ll now be doing so at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
