NFL rumors: Seahawks have financial edge in signing Antonio Brown

While Antonio Brown is likely to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, one team to keep an eye on in his free agency is the Seattle Seahawks. They could offer him more money than Tampa Bay.

Wide receiver Antonio Brown may very well return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his NFL free agency, but the Seattle Seahawks have the financial resources to potentially rip him away from the defending Super Bowl champions, if they feel so inclined.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport appeared on The Pat McAfee Show Monday. Besides unintentionally trolling McAfee for his lack of Super Bowl rings, he mentioned while Tom Brady wants Brown back in Tampa Bay, he would only be returning to the Buccaneers on a prove-it deal. Rapoport reports the Seahawks may be willing to offer the Pro Bowl wideout even more coin.

Could Antonio Brown be a good fit in the Seattle Seahawks’ receiving corps?

If Brown were to leave Tampa Bay, there are no guarantees he will be as locked in as he was with the Super Bowl champions. We all saw how things unraveled for him in 2019 with the then-Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots. However, Seattle feels like one team who could handle his one-of-a-kind personality, as well as let him shine as a hall-of-fame-level receiver.

With Shane Waldron being named the Seahawks’ new offensive coordinator this offseason, maybe he will be willing to let Russell Wilson cook? Head coach Pete Carroll may prefer the ground-and-pound, but pairing Brown with D.K. Metcalf in the receiving corps could be too enticing for the gum-chewing defensive-minded head coach to not seriously look into.

Brown going to Seattle would help make the Seahawks offensive even more exciting to watch.
