Chiefs could draft relative of Joe Delaney to help win another Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs have an cool opportunity to draft the late Joe Delaney’s great nephew in LSU football star Terrace Marshall Jr. with their No. 31 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Joe Delaney is a Kansas City Chiefs legend for paying the ultimate sacrifice, and the Chiefs have a chance to draft his great nephew this spring in LSU football star wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr.

Though Marshall never met his great uncle, he knows the story of Delaney and looks to carry on his football legacy. Marshall played his college ball for Delaney’s college teammate Ed Orgeron at Northwestern State back in the early 1980s. Orgeron says Marshall reminds him so much of his late great uncle. With the Chiefs picking at No. 31 in the 2021 NFL Draft, he may go to Kansas City.

Terrace Marshall Jr. could help the Kansas City Chiefs replace Sammy Watkins

Marshall is a fringe first-round draft prospect. He is slated to come off the board sometime in the late 20s to early 40s. While taking another luxury item from the same alma mater as Clyde-Edwards Helaire in back-to-back drafts could make some in Chiefs Kingdom very worried, mentioning that Marshall is the relative of Delaney could sway their opinion to be onboard with it.

Though Kansas City already has two elite receiving options for Patrick Mahomes to rifle the ball to in Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, there is a glaring void in the receiving corps to replace Sammy Watkins. The Chiefs may go with an offensive lineman at No. 31, especially after how Super Bowl 55 went. However, Marshall will be coming off the board right around where they are drafting.

By selecting Marshall, the Chiefs can carry on Delaney’s legacy in a cool way, as well as contend.
