Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes revealed what he has given up since becoming a dad this offseason.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes did not win Super Bowl 55 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to hoist his second Lombardi Trophy, but he did win the offseason by becoming a father. On Feb. 20, Mahomes and fiancee Brittany Matthews welcomed their daughter Sterling Skye to the world.
When speaking with the media on Monday, Mahomes was asked what he has given up since becoming a dad. Mahomes revealed that he has not been playing as much golf and video games as he used to, via ESPN’s Adam Teicher.

While on the topic of being a new father, Mahomes revealed that he received the COVID-19 vaccine to protect his two-month old daughter.
“To me it was more of a personal decision with having a baby girl and knowing I was going to be around people,” Mahomes said, via Teicher. “I wanted to make sure I did whatever I could to help keep her healthy.”
Mahomes underwent surgery for turf toe shortly after Super Bowl 55. In this very press conference, Mahomes expressed his belief that he is ahead of schedule in the recovery process. While he won’t have Mitchell Schwartz or Eric Fisher protecting him next season (as of right now), the team did sign guards Joe Thuney and Kyle Long to help keep Mahomes upright.
Last season, Mahomes completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 4,740 yards, 38 touchdowns and six interceptions.
There may be a lot less golf and video games being played, but you can bet Mahomes is enjoying every second of being a girl dad.
