One of the most anticipated matchups of the 2021 NFL season was Tom Brady’s return to Foxboro as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady’s debut in Tampa was stellar as he helped the Buccaneers win the Super Bowl, making his return to New England an even juicier matchup after the Patriots’ massive offseason spending spree.

There have been plenty of NFL schedule leaks throughout the day and this game was revealed by NFL reporter Dov Kleiman on Twitter, who leaked a copy of the entire Patriots’ schedule. That leak was enough to spotlight where the eagerly anticipated homecoming will take place.

Tom Brady will return to New England on October 3

The highly-anticipated Buccaneers-Patriots matchup will take place during Week 4 and receive the prime-time spotlight as part of NBC’s Sunday Night Football package. There is no doubt that all of the league’s broadcast partners were eager to get their hands on this matchup so the NFL did a solid here for NBC, which is set to broadcast Super Bowl 56 in February.

The game was also placed inside the pre-flex window, ensuring that it will not be moved out of primetime regardless of what happens in the first three weeks of the season. There will be a huge guaranteed audience for this game so it is a slight surprise that the NFL didn’t save it for November sweeps to help boost the ratings even further.

Either way the matchup of Brady taking on Bill Belichick will be of high interest to all NFL fans. Getting it in the mix early is a good way to build some huge buzz right as the calendar flips to October.
