According to Eagles insider Howard Eskin, Howie Roseman wasn’t the one to get the ball rolling in a Carson Wentz trade.
The Carson Wentz era in Philadelphia is long over, with Indianapolis Colts fans ready to see what the former first-round pick will be able to do while leading the team’s offense. For Eagles fans, they’re left wondering what could have been for Wentz.
The trade rumors started swirling as soon as former head man Doug Pederson made the tough call to bench him in favor of Jalen Hurts, who is the expected starter for the NFC East squad this upcoming year. As it turns out, though, Howie Roseman may not have been the guy to start the Wentz trade talks. Instead, it was team owner Jeff Lurie?

Per Eagles insider Howard Eskin, his sources are telling him that Lurie was indeed the one who started making the Wentz trade calls first. This sure is something, as it tells you just how ready the front office was for a fresh start at signal-caller. You’d think that Roseman was the one fielding the calls, but nope, per Eskin, Lurie had lost patience and was ready to see what was out there.
In the end, Wentz indeed got traded to the Colts and it’s looking like it will be the Hurts show at Lincoln Financial Field come Week 1. The former second-round pick showed flashes of brilliance last year, with his dual-threat abilities really turning heads. At the same time, he also had some rookie mistakes being showcased.
Regardless, Hurts will look to make a major leap in his second NFL season. As for Wentz, he’ll be ready to prove all of his haters wrong.
