Watch Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase build on their LSU connection

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase will build on the LSU football rapport now in Cincinnati Bengals stripes.

Two years after leading the 2019 LSU football team to a national championship, quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase have reunited on the Cincinnati Bengals and it feels so good.

Cincinnati used the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on the 2019 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback after a dismal 2-14 season. While the Bengals were only a few wins better than that this past year, they took Burrow’s former top target Chase at No. 5 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. Though it was controversial to pass on an offensive tackle, you cannot deny what this duo did.

Here is your first look at Chase catching passes from Burrow in Bengals organized team activities.

LSU football connection between Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase grows with Bengals

Though he never publicly said it, Burrow was pounding his fist on the table for the Bengals to take Chase with their top-five selection. Cincinnati could have drafted Penei Sewell out of Oregon or Rashawn Slater out of Northwestern to solve their offensive tackle deficiencies. Then again, Burrow and the Bengals really like the fact they were able to add veteran Riley Reiff in free agency.

Ultimately, this LSU connection will tell the tale of if this Bengals corps gets back into the AFC Playoffs. It was not all that long ago that 2011 NFL Draft classmates A.J. Green and Andy Dalton set the AFC North on fire with their great rapport, making the playoffs each of their first five years in the league. For the Bengals sake, let’s hope Burrow-to-Chase gets them out of the AFC cellar.

There are a ton of reasons for all sorts of Bengals fans (Cincinnati or Bayou) to be excited here.
