Russell Wilson says he never requested a trade out of Seattle

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson spoke to the media on Thursday and made it clear things are good between him and the front office.

All offseason, nothing but drama and controversy has followed the Seattle Seahawks and quarterback Russell Wilson. Trade rumors swirled all over the place, with multiple teams linked to the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

However, Wilson set the record straight on Thursday. In his first public comments with the media while at OTAs, the signal-caller said he never demanded a trade out of Seattle and that he’s ready to win with the Seahawks. Period.

Russell Wilson said he never asked the front office for a trade this offseason

While that’s of course great news for the Seahawks and their fans, Wilson did acknowledge that the four teams that were leaked he’d accept a trade to were correct. Those squads were the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints.

Even so, the standout quarterback reiterated that he couldn’t be happier to be with the Seahawks and he wants to do everything in his power to help his side win another Super Bowl. That’s music to the ears of everyone in the Emerald City, as it sure looked like there was a strong possibility Wilson could be leaving town earlier this offseason.

Instead, he’s back at the training facility in Renton with the other playmakers on the squad. Come Week 1, Seattle will open the new campaign with a showdown against the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson could make everyone forget about the hectic past couple of months with a big showdown and road victory against the AFC South team.

When Wilson is on top of his game, he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. It’s time for him to remind folks of that come the 2021 campaign.
