Watch: Cubs fans give Justin Fields raucous ovation at Wrigley Field

Fans of the Chicago Cubs gave Justin Fields a raucous ovation when he visited Wrigley Field with his fellow Chicago Bears draft picks.

The city of Chicago can’t get enough of Justin Fields.

The new Bears quarterback made an appearance at the Cubs game against the Cardinals on Friday and received an ovation from fans.

Fields picked a good day to see a game at Wrigley Field. It was the first 100 percent capacity crowd at the stadium since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sixth-round running back pick Khalil Herbert and sixth-round cornerback selection Thomas Graham joined Fields at the ballpark.

Fields witnessed an exciting game with back and forth action as the Cubs and Cardinals started their critical series. Joc Pederson homered in the fourth to answer two runs by St. Louis. Anthony Rizzo blasted another in the sixth to lock the game at five runs apiece.

Chicago and Milwaukee are in a tight battle at the top of the NL Central while the Cardinals are trying to claw their way into the conversation in third.

The Cubs and White Sox have been battling for Fields’ loyalty since he fell into the Bears’ lap in the draft. The White Sox created a custom jersey for him in a bid to draw him in. However, the quarterback tried not to take sides by declaring himself a “White Cubs” fan.

Of course, now White Sox fans will be wondering when Fields will take a trip to Guaranteed Rate Field. It’ll have to wait since the team is in Detroit this weekend. They’ll be back on Monday for a series with the Rays. However, another road trip will follow. They won’t play weekend games in Chicago until the end of June against the Mariners.
