After dealing with Aaron Rodgers as the Green Bay Packers starting quarterback since 2008, Chicago Bears fans are thrilled with the latest news.
Only one more year. Two at the worst.
That’s where things stand for the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers and their seemingly eternal hold on the NFC North. With the team reporting for training camp on Tuesday before their first practice in Wednesday, news leaked that Rodgers saw his contract shortened by a year, allowing him to hit free agency after the 2022 season.
Additionally, the Packers can’t place any franchise or transition tags on him moving forward.
For Chicago Bears fans, this is wonderful. It means that while rookie quarterback Justin Fields is cheap and hopefully ascending into stardom, Rodgers will either be on his way out of Titletown or completely gone. And, from the report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it appears Rodgers only has one year left in the green and gold.

In the short term, of course, this isn’t great news for Chicago. The Packers are the overwhelming favorite to win the division once again and potentially go to Super Bowl LVI after losing the previous two NFC Championship Games.
Still, Rodgers has been the proverbial thorn in Chicago’s side for the better part of 15 years. If that’s going to be extracted within the next nine months or so, all the better.
