Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs

3 bold predictions for Chiefs against Bills

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The biggest game in the NFL in Week 5 involves the Chiefs and the Bills in a matchup of heavy-hitting offenses. That’s why defense will win the day.

The Chiefs and Bills opened the season on opposite ends of the spectrum. Kansas City won their big matchup with the Browns while Buffalo suffered a disappointing loss to the Steelers.

Their fortunes have changed dramatically since then.

The Chiefs are sitting in last place in the AFC West after falling to 2-2. Meanwhile, the Bills look like one of the league’s best after ripping off three straight impressive victories.

With the two meeting at Arrowhead Stadium for Sunday Night Football, there should be fireworks, but who will shine brightest?

3. The Chiefs defense will give up 30 points

It may not be the boldest prediction since the Chiefs have given up more than 30 points in every game so far this season. Still, it’s pretty wild to think Kansas City will go five weeks without holding a team under 30.

That’s the way it’s going to be.

Since the Steelers held the Bills to 16 points in their opening loss, they’ve gone absolutely wild on offense. They put up 35 on the Dolphins and went even higher with 40-point outings against Washington and Houston.

Granted, those three opponents are 4-8 combined this season. Then again, the Chiefs gave up 30 points to the 1-3 Eagles while sitting 2-2 themselves. They don’t get to talk.

The one plus is Josh Allen’s record against KC. He went 0-2 against them last year, completing less than 60 percent of his passes in each meeting.

Andy Reid could use some of last year’s defensive juice in this year’s matchup. It’s the only thing that will prevent embarrassment.
