The Baltimore Ravens are already ruled out wide receiver Marquise Brown for Week 11, but they could be without quarterback Lamar Jackson.

The Baltimore Ravens revealed the bad news on Saturday afternoon that wide receiver Marquise Brown was ruled out for their game on Sunday against the Chicago Bears due to a thigh injury. As if things could not get any worse for Ravens, fans, there is this update on quarterback Lamar Jackson.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Jackson is “50-50” to play on Sunday against the Bears due to an illness. The source told Schefter that the illness is not COVID-19.

A source told Schefter that a cold hit the Ravens facility last week and it affected several players, including wide receiver Rashod Bateman, center Bradley Bozeman and Jackson.

The Ravens quarterback did miss team practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but was fully active on Friday. The Ravens did not place an injury diagnosis on Jackson on Friday, but that changed on Saturday, where he was listed as questionable due to an illness.

Who is Lamar Jackson’s backup?

If Jackson is ultimately ruled out, that means the Ravens will lean upon Tyler Huntley to lead the offense against the Bears in what would be his first career start.

Huntley played quarterback for the Utah Utes from 2016 until 2019. During that span, Huntley threw for 7,351 yards, 46 touchdowns and 20 interceptions while completing 67.2 percent of his passes. Additionally, he ran for 1,146 yards and 16 touchdowns on 389 carries in that span.

The Ravens signed Huntley as an undrafted free agent in 2020. Huntley notably entered in Baltimore’s AFC Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills after Jackson entered concussion protocol. Huntley completed 6-of-13 throws for 60 yards and ran for 32 yards on three carries in the 17-3 loss.

Through the first two-regular seasons of his career, Huntley accumulated 54 passing yards (8-for-16 on throws) and 33 rushing yards (13 carries) in four games.

The Ravens activated Trace McSorely from the practice squad, and would backup Huntley if Jackson were ruled out on Sunday.
