Did Dan Quinn turn down the Jaguars interview request?

Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has been mentioned as a candidate for several head coaching openings, including the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Quinn was the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, leading them to the Super Bowl before losing to the New England Patriots, blowing a 28-3 lead in the process. From there, things only got worse.

Nonetheless, Quinn has head coaching experience — a good experience for some of that time, I might add — and has led a resurgence of the Cowboys defense, which last year ranked as one of the worst in the NFL.

While reports initially surfaced that Quinn turned down the Jaguars interview request, that was anything but the case.

Jaguars rumors: Dan Quinn waiting until end of season to interview

Quinn is very busy right now, preparing his Dallas defense for the postseason and beyond.

“For clarity: #Cowboys DC Dan Quinn didn’t decline an interview for the #Jaguars’ head coaching job, per source. He wants to get through the regular season before doing any interviews, which is how the hiring cycle has worked in past years and will for most candidates this year,” Tom Pelissero reported.

Quinn is viewed as the top candidate for several openings, including the Denver Broncos should they move on from Vic Fangio. He’s also in discussion for the Chicago Bears pending vacancy, if they let Matt Nagy go.

The Jaguars are far from the most attractive opening, but do possess a young corps around Trevor Lawrence. With future high draft picks to build around, as well, Jacksonville should be able to make a compelling hire.
