Cowboys add Tyron Smith to COVID list, joining Micah Parsons

Things have gotten worse for the Dallas Cowboys, as star left tackle Tyron Smith has also been added to the COVID list.

Another blow has just come in for the Dallas Cowboys leading up to the regular season-finale against the Philadelphia Eagles. After rookie pass-rusher Micah Parsons landed on the COVID list, he’s just been joined by star left tackle Tyron Smith.

On Thursday afternoon, NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo have reported that Smith indeed tested positive for COVID. Just like that, he’s out for Week 18 too.

COVID has Tyron Smith set to miss another game for the Cowboys

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, this team is used to having to take the field without Smith able to battle in the trenches. Due to injury, Smith has only been able to play in 11 games this year. This latest COVID setback is a bummer, but the hope is he’ll be ready to rock for the NFC Wild Card Round next weekend.

The same can be said for Parsons. The rookie out of Penn State has been nothing short of sensational this year, as the first-round pick has posted 84 total tackles and 13 sacks for Mike McCarthy.

With the Packers locking up the No. 1 seed in the NFC, Dallas won’t be getting the first-round bye, but this team is ready to try and go on a deep run. In order for that to happen, Dak Prescott and the offense will need to wake up and start playing to their potential.

For that to happen, Smith will need to be protecting his blindside and opening up big holes for Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Cowboys fans will hope Smith, and Parsons, can rest up and get fully healthy for whoever the team faces first in the postseason.
