Patrick Mahomes’ assessment of Chiefs should scare rest of AFC

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes thinks his team hasn’t had a complete performance yet this season, which is scary for the AFC to consider.

The Kansas City Chiefs finished up the regular season slate on Saturday with a victory over the Broncos to finish 12-5.

Their hopes of being the No. 1 seed in the AFC hinge on an unlikely Titans loss, but even without the first-round bye, Kansas City is a team no one in the conference will be eager to face.

That’ll be extra true when teams hear what Patrick Mahomes had to say about his team after the Week 18 victory.

“I just feel like we haven’t had that complete game yet,” Mahomes said per Aaron Ladd of KSHB41.

Mahomes went on to say that once the Chiefs put things together for a complete game, “we can win as much as we want to win,” per Vahe Gregorian of the Kansas City Star.

Patrick Mahomes thinks a complete game could make the Chiefs unstoppable

The Chiefs aren’t guaranteed to have a complete game in the playoffs. That’s the ultimate question the team must answer: Did they just need time to come together or are they incapable of an actual complete performance?

If it’s the former, they’re going to be dangerous in the playoffs. If it’s the latter, they’re going to be in trouble in the playoffs.

On Saturday night, the victory came despite some special teams miscues. Early in the season, the defense couldn’t get a stop. Midway through the campaign, the offense couldn’t buy a touchdown.

Now, Kansas City is entering the postseason with nine wins in their last 10 games. We’ll see if the perfect game follows.
