Big Ben is playing up the Steelers playoff underdog story

Ben Roethlisberger knows the Steelers are major underdogs against the Chiefs and he’s not letting that bring him down.

Virtually no one is giving the Pittsburgh Steelers a chance going up against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. Pittsburgh was able to sneak into the playoffs, though the Chargers-Raiders game nearly gave countless people a heart attack.

Having said that, the Steelers will now be taking on Patrick Mahomes and Co. in the Wild Card Round. The Steelers aren’t expected to keep things close, but Ben Roethlisberger made it more than clear he’s entering the showdown with a ‘nothing to lose’ mentality.

The Steelers know their backs are against the wall vs. the Chiefs

From that quote above, Roethlisberger knows that the Chiefs are the heavy favorites. He almost made it seem like he’s assuming Pittsburgh will lose, but we know that’s not the case. This man is a competitor and he’s going to give it all he’s got to take down KC, even if no one thinks it will go down.

With that said, could you imagine if Pittsburgh somehow finds a way to pull off the victory? Again, that’s not expected, as the Chiefs have been to the Super Bowl in two straight years and they’ve got a great shot to make it three seasons in a row.

The Buffalo Bills will of course have something to say about that, while the Steelers will try to kill those dreams on Sunday as well. Roethlisberger is likely to announce his retirement in the near future, but he’s got at least one more game in him before hanging up his cleats. With a stunning result on Sunday, we’ll of course see him move on to the Divisional Round. We wouldn’t count on that, however.
