Doug Pederson may look to add these former Philadelphia Eagles in free agency to help get the Jacksonville Jaguars out of the NFL’s cellar.

With Doug Pederson now the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he may look at adding key pieces leaving his former team in free agency.

Though Pederson spent a year out of football, he did have a successful five-year run leading the Philadelphia Eagles. This includes leading them to their first Super Bowl championship in franchise history back in 2017. While Philadelphia is not losing a ton of free agents this offseason, expect for at least one or two to potentially reunite with their former head coach down in Duval.

Here are three Eagles free agents who could join Pederson in the Jaguars’ rebuilding process.

Greg Ward had success as a converted wide receiver playing for Doug Pederson

One player who did not see anywhere close to the same production in Philadelphia once Pederson left was wide receiver Greg Ward. The former Houston Cougars quarterback has successfully transitioned to being an NFL wide receiver. In three years with the Eagles, he has 88 career catches for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns. The bulk of those numbers came in 2019 and 2020.

In his first year playing for Nick Sirianni, Ward saw his production plummet. While he appeared in all 17 games for the playoff-bound Eagles, he only had seven catches for 95 yards and three touchdowns on 11 targets. Simply put, he was not use as often in the Eagles passing game as he had been under the previous staff. Ward is still in his mid-20s, but needs to find another team.

Though he is not going to command a ton of money, Ward knows the type of offense Pederson likes to run. While one of Jacksonville’s few strengths as a team are in the receiving corps, Ward has shown the adaptability and the perseverance to crack a robust receiving rotation. He may only be a No. 4 receiver in Jacksonville, but he could flourish catching balls from one Trevor Lawrence.

Jacksonville has other needs, but Ward to the Jaguars makes a ton of sense on paper for them.
